spr kit – a tale of 2 jerseys

ok, so i haven’t really wanted to do this, but the options are available if we want.  the group seems to be split as to the merits of a black vs white kit.  hot vs cold.  safe vs unsafe.  i for one think the black kit looks good.  as for the heat factor, when someone comments “you look hot in that”, take it as a compliment.

the group also looks awesome when everyone is wearing the same kit.  when we get a good roll through happening in a cyclo-sportif and everyone is in the same kit, it really feels like a team no matter how crap we are.  when the bigger groups roll around the river and the majority are in the same kit, you really sit up and take notice as it shows some form of group unity.  remember all this when you make your comments.

so anyway, we are never going to please everyone, but there may be a compromise rather than everyone being told that they have to wear the same thing.  glenn parker south have two kits made up.  a black version and a white version.  we can do this if we get the numbers to support it.  basically it would work like this.  a white kit would be available in the following items – jersey, knicks/bibs, summer arms.  the black version would be available in the following items – jersey, knicks/bibs, vest, jacket, winter arms, knee warmers, sleeveless, skinsuits, trisuits & long sleeve jersey.  basically, the white kit would be the summer “fun in the sun” kit but the black kit would be the main kit.  this means that black will be the race kit if you are thinking of/intending to race in the future.  both carry the same sponsors and have the same basic design concept.  also remember the gloves and booties have been made to match the black kit (black hexagons).

so, comments please.

this is black
this is white

  1. I prefer the black,… but would probably get one of the white ones (omg did I say that out loud?) if thats what went into production.

  2. Yeah I really cant see a problem with the original black kit, its looks awesome! We should just stick with it. Not really keen on the white. Hopefully everyone agrees that th black looks awesome

  3. 1 vote for white, and I would prefer a white tri-suit.

That being said, as a true believer in democracy, if the kit goes ahead as proposed above I would be in for black, white and a tri-suit.

  4. Pete. I like the idea of the Summer and winter jersey…….both should be black!
(I really don’t like the white one, but thanks for thinking outside the box and giving a different option.)

    Vote 1 Black is Back!

  5. Great work on the designs Pete but Personaly I love our original kit.
Not a fan of the white or black versions,
    Call me old fashioned …

  6. Black… definitely!
White would not not look pristine for long and we would end up with varying shades of pale grey after 6 months+ of washing!

    1. Prefer the black version but would imagine you would get the numbers to do a white run on the jerseys at least in which case I would get one.

  7. I’d take the white, but probably take a black also. I think it’ just time to pull the trigger (pending sponsor funding, etc.).

    @michaelroper – I hope that’s a helmet ordered from an aussie website….

  8. Is it an option to look at doing a summer (white) & winter (black) jersey only, while keeping the black bib shorts (white bib shorts not practical) and designed black accessories (all from version 5.1).

The white jersey design looks cool just add a couple of black panels ( sleeves or side panels ) to tie them in more with the black bib shorts.

  9. I would get white, 2 lots of white and one black, but the white makes me think about something like all Christmases coming at once?
also I think something like the white kit with a black Gillet would look pretty because of the contrast.

  10. I like the summer arms on both kit versions. It never made sense to me why the current summer arms are green at the top and white down the bottom when the sleeves were black. Now they’ll blend in with the sleeves.

PS – I would get white. It would make me feel like I’m in a Best Young Rider jersey.

  11. PPS – it’s funny how everybody is coming out of the woodwork liking the black!

PPPS – I wouldn’t mind if a decision was made not to do the white for the sakes of team unity and conformity.

  12. Black for me , but if we had a run of white I would grab a white jersey.
I’m thinking the new black knicks with the white top.

  13. White is bad, bad, bad. Not like Michael Jackson or Run DMC bad, but horrible, putrid bad. Look at CRT next time you see them out. Word is that half the group never wears the kit because it looks so vulgar. BLACK PLEASE. One last thing… is it too late to get Santini to quote on making a higher quality garment? I’d be happy to pay a little extra for a better built kit.
