ride routes 12th & 13th april

IMG_20140302_084355school holidays are just around the corner and this usually means more kids out on bikes.  as cyclists, pretty much all of us also drive a car.  does your attitude to cyclists change when they are holding you up when you are on your way to work???  do you give enough space to riders when you are overtaking??? make sure that your actions off the bike are just as positive as those on the bike.

ride leaders – support the club and help us become ambassadors for the sport in the public eye. put your name down as ride leader to ensure that the group ride is safe and organised. stu has written a bit about what i means to be a ride leader which pretty much sums it up.  sign up here.

goldfields cyclassic – the next big race on the calendar is at the start of june and as it is in kalgoorlie, it will take a bit of organising.  more info is on the previous post and if you are interested, please put your name in the comments section.

ride routes – just be aware that with the hilly race on sunday, most of the hills riding regulars that normally lead the ride may not be there.  the routes are not too hard, but make sure you have a look before you come out.

  1. Phew… Thanks El Prez!
This does not discount the fact however, that I will still be relying on a lot of wheel sucking to get me to coffee!

    1. Just coincidence. I can’t get out in the morning anyway unfortunately. Or maybe not so unfortunate given fast group always unhitches me there.

  2. Fast and Main groups, please be mindful of keeping to the left lane through dual lane roundabouts. Just about every time I’ve been on an SPR ride going past the Ascot racecourse (like we do tomorrow) our riders have taken the straightest line and cut from the left lane to the right lane.
    Ride smart and stay safe.
    😉

    1. And…. no they didn’t listen Stu! 🙁 Pretty basic stuff guys… if it’s not OK for a car to do it, it’s not OK for a bike either! Same goes for overtaking in the sprint along Mts Bay Rd etc… stay in the lane.

      1. I have to say M3 was excellent and followed the lane as should be done. Was a pleasure to lead the group yesterday, great group and all riding very sensibly. Due to the size we decided to split into two groups with Jan taking the other. Some of the more experienced M3 riders helped loads in both groups.
