ride routes 30th & 31st aug

10641066_10202650961299895_6343361263417554429_na great day of racing for some last weekend.  some good podiums across many grades, but not such a good race for spr in c grade.  there was an accident towards the end that saw greg (pictured) with one broken collar bone and the other shoulder dislocated along with a bunch of scraps and bruises.  jordan managed to walk away but has 16 stitches in his face and a not so good shoulder.  this is the sometime unfortunate outcome of racing and if you are looking at lining up at some races make sure that you are prepared.  this may mean having your contact numbers handy, good medical and bike insurance and even having more than 1 jersey (greg had his cut off by the doctors).  not trying to scare anyone off racing as it doesn’t happen every race, but better to have thought about it beforehand.

ride leaders – support the club and help us become ambassadors for the sport in the public eye. put your name down as ride leader to ensure that the group ride is safe and organised. sign up here.

ride leaders sponsorship – if you have a business that you want to promote to our members, check out the previous post to both promote your business and help out the club.

dardanup tour – next sunday there is a great race down south.  the dardanup tour is for teams of 4-6 and consists of a short road race followed by a team time trial.  we would put a post up later, but get a team together.  more info here.

spr watertower challenge – it’s coming.  just trying to get a date bolted down.

cycling safari – want to race overseas???  check out this opportunity that mark is organising for anyone in the club.  see the previous post.

single speed/fixie ride – this weekend those that are brave enough to only have 1 gear will be doing a fixie ride.  see more info here.

the beverley heroic – back in the day, there used to be a race from beverley to perth.  nowadays, the logistics of these types of races make to very difficult to accomplish so what has been revived is somewhere in between.  also, to relive some of that past history, there is an option to do the event on an old time bike.  to add to that, some of the roads are dirt.  spr will be supporting this event and we will need to source some volunteers.  if you can provide a volunteer, then your entry is free.  see the previous post for details.

lighthouse to lighthouse – if anyone is interested in doing an organised ride down south, the lighthouse to  lighthouse ride is coming up.  see the previous post for more details and leave a comment if you are thinking of heading down.

cape to cape mtb race – nigel is hosting a few training rides for anyone interested in doing the cape to cape mountain bike race in october.  see the previous post for more details.
