With El Prez enjoying a well-earned break in Italy (and getting some good SPR exposure on International television) it falls to me to provide the spiel this week. The main aim is not to get any politicians offside.

It has been a busy week, with my wife away and me tending to 3 teenagers at home. The struggle has been to fit in training in between work, lifts to and from school, sports and jobs, together with doing the cooking cleaning and other jobs said teenagers were meant to do.

However, organising the children and coping with it will no doubt put me in good staid for Saturday morning, when once again the task of organising the Main 1 groups will befall me. With the fine weather still here, I’m expecting a big turnout and so there will be the need to split groups. Ideally, in the interest of safety, the groups should be kept to a maximum of 25.

Please be warned I will come down on anyone who tries and sneaks across the divisions. Get organised beforehand with the people you want to ride with.

The route this week is an old favourite with enough lumps to keep everyone happy.

On the racing front, good luck to those heading up to Kalgoorlie this weekend and well done to all those who participated in the Pickering Brook Race last week, especially the ones who climbed the podium in the various grades.

  1. Hang on… I thought you were a teenager Dr J :p
See you tomorrow at the EBR? Can you make sure we regroup after Shelly please 😀

  2. Oh joy. Cresswell & Herdsman…. that was the route on my first ever ride with SPR some 3 1/2years ago. Got dropped like a stone when we hit Creswell!! Cameron Brook kindly nursed me home. Such great memories… still, I came back the following week for more… I still got dropped…. from the Trannies! Those were the days.

  3. Hey All
Just wondering if anyone found out the purpose of the cameraman that was following the Main 2 ride on Monday morning?

    1. I was in the main 2 group as well and the cameraman followed the group from Cottesloe to the city. The story appeared in the channel 9 news on Monday night and they showed the footage from the main 2 ride. The footage was repeated in the late news. The story was about car drivers being made more responsible for accidents with cyclists (or something like that). I was concentrating more on if I could see myself in the footage rather than the story contents.
