Hey Guys,

I happened to join you on your ride round the river this morning. Whilst I know I am not a member of your club and this was the first time I have ridden with you, I was a little disappointed that no one was willing to stop or find out if I needed assistance when I pulled over with a puncture. It was the first time I have had my bike out in a while and turned out my repair kit wasn’t under the seat.
This meant I had a two and half hour walk home to west perth from close to fremantle…

Was this on the slow river loop? British guy? We all thought you were pulling off because you lived on that street!! OMG feel terrible now!

I think so, I was wearing a blue shirt and talking to someone about rock climbing?
unfortunately I didn’t live on that street…!
A good lesson for me to check my kit, and perhaps for everyone else to check when someone pulls over!

I am really sorry Dan. I was at the back of the group and should have stopped. I was a bit puzzled by your quick action, but my concern was dropped when other riders mentioned you lived there. It would also help if people shouted “mechanical” or “puncture” when they stop, so that other people realise that someone needs help.
I really hope to see you again on other rides and that your club view isn’t distorted because of what happened this morning.

Hi Dan. Really sorry about this morning. Some of the group has provided good advice about calling out if you have trouble. It is not the intention of the club to leave any rider stranded. Please come along anytime and make yourself known to one of the ride leaders prior to the ride so we can help you with information that may improve your experience.
