The Goldfields Cyclassic is the richest handicap cycle race in Australia. $20,000 will be up for grabs over two days racing on the long “WA Day” long weekend, May 30th & 31st.
Being a handicap, everyone gets a red hot chance at picking up the prizes. Last year the C graders claimed the line honors on day two. Will it happen again this year?
Getting to and from Kalgoorlie with bikes is always a little challenging! The Cyclassic organisers do have a transport package (without accom) that includes a discounted charter flight from Perth. Spaces on this flight are very limited.
SPR will arrange a transport and/or accommodation package similar to last years. We will hire mini-vans with trailers for bikes, leave Perth on the Friday 29/5, stay in budget school camp style accommodation and return on Monday 1/6. The cost is to be determined but will be approximately $200 pp (not including race entry).
We also need a couple of non-racing volunteers who will be happy to drive the vans on the race days. These people will have their costs very heavily subsidised as a token of our appreciation.
