This close to the TdU accommodation in Adelaide may be difficult to come by, especially apartments in the CBD.
The TdU Event Village is the centre of activity for the week – Team Presentations, Movies, Concerts, Equipment, Beer tents. It is located smack bang in the centre of the CBD on King William Street where it crosses Grote / Wakefield Streets. (The event Hotel is the Hilton on the edge of the park)
A couple of the cycling stages / events are in Rymill Park on East Terrace (east of the CBD) or in the parklands in North Adelaide.
There is a good Coles supermarket on Grote Street just around the corner from the Event Village.
Hence, accommodation in the CBD is best – it allows you to walk to the event village / restaurants / a couple of races etc.
I am staying in an apartment on North Terrace opposite the Convention Centre (sorry no extra room for you to share…). (I booked it through LaLoft Apartments) Other SPR members stay in various apartments in the CBD too. You may be lucky and find an SPR member or other West Aussie who has a spare room / bed.
I once stayed in a little cabin in the Adelaide Caravan Park on banks of the Torrens River in Hackney (central Adelaide) when over there for MTB Nationals. It was pretty good value and great location too.
There are a number of good apartments in North Adelaide too. (I have stayed in Grand Apartments with WAIS group – look at Adelaide Regent Apartments)
    Good luck.
