It is always a controversial situation. As a long time cyclist, you will know that bikes are legally allowed to ride two abreast on the road. They are also allowed to overtake another group of 2 abreast cyclists (overtaking in single file) meaning that at the time the riders will be 3 abreast on the road.
There are off road shared pathways at both the locations you mentioned, but as even our premier will acknowledge, these are not the best places to be riding 30-40kph.
SPR mandates that all club rides obey the road rules and we expect that our members do the same when they are riding seperately, whether they are wearing club kit or not. We know that this doesn’t always happen, but we try to spread the message of safe and considerate sharing of the road.
