I think it’s a great idea – and one that is likely to lead to a significantly improved ride experience at many levels within the club if implemented.
Ride leading has a number of responsibilities and implications – some are less obvious than others, and some are less necessary than others depending on the group and their experience level.
This could include – Ride etiquette, managing / restricting size of groups, roll throughs, regroups, duty of care, post-crash decisions/actions etc
But also, different ride leaders also require different levels of assistance / training to ensure they are delivering the same quality message to the SPR members in their ride groups.
A well thought out & delivered “Ride Leader Workshop” could be just the answer – and could encourage others to take up the role as well.
Good idea.
