SPR Social Day and Birthday Celebrations

 22nd May 2010

Please join us in the celebration of SPR being 2 years peteold and El Presidente’s birthday and him being….. well a little older than than 2, well in age any how!!    😉

On the 10th of may 2008 a group of cyclists started meeting at the coode st carpark in south perth. With a core team of experienced riders involved, it didn’t take long for this group to grow and now attracts up to 70+ riders on a saturday morning. From this the south perth rouleurs cycling group was formed and one of the reasons that this group is so popular is the family-like atmosphere that we promote within the group.

Now, almost 2 years later, the group is still going strong with a good turn out at all of our training rides. With the addition of several groups (novice, transitional and now 2 mains groups as well as the fast group) not to mention the Tuesday and Thursday rides during the week.

We have since added some formality to the group and have become the south perth cycle club but are really the same group that we have always been. So in order to share some of this family-like atmosphere, we want to invite your family to our second birthday. This is an opportunity for your partner and kids to meet the other lycra clad people that they may have only heard about in your post ride embellishments of the truth. This event will be held at lunch time and as such will not be directly after the morning ride.

Details are below:

Date: Saturday 22nd May Venue: SPCC (South Perth Church of Christ – Corner Murray Street & McNabb Loop, Como)

Time: 12.00 – 2.00pm

Cost:  $12 members and members partners, $15 non-members and non-members partners, $5 Children +12 years, Free Children U12.

Other Details: There will be entertainment  for the children throughout the duration.

RSVP:  Preferably if you could rsvp by emailing me that would be great and please include any dietary requirements or allergies;   lwood@claytonutz.com

When letting me know if you are coming and bringing your Partner if you could let me know their name and if you have children that are going to be in attendance could you please let me know their names and ages so I can organise catering accordingly.

Some Able Assistants:   As always we are looking for some willing people to help set up from 11am ish and clean up afterwards.  If you could let me know in your RSVP if you would be willing that would be great.

Thanks Lisa 🙂

THANKYOU

To all of SPR

tdpgroupA BIG BIG BIG thankyou for your support for those who you all know and love! that were riding in the tour de perth.  I cant tell you how it felt to hear your cheers especially when your head is say WTF am I doing and this is a faaaaast crit and not Kings Park hill AGAIN!

Every corner that was turned there was a voice shouting….

There were plently of lessons and experiences learnt – my main one was reaching the food station taking another bottle of water without realising I hadnt chucked the last bottle out and I was on a hill with one bottle in my mouth (whilst trying to suck in any amount of air as possible as I WAS ON A HILL!!) one hand trying to fish around for the empty bottle to chuck out and then one hand on the handle bars trying to climb in a straight line……….. geez people underestimate the talents that cyclists need 😉

The men's peloton rides along Mounts Bay Road.

Again a big thankyou

Lisa

Have a go at Track Riding…

Have you ever thought that you might like to have a go at track riding??  Jump on Grand Prix fever and have a go.

If riding a bike round in circles, with only 1 gear that’s fixed and no brakes appeals to you read on!!  😉

I am looking to organise a weekend afternoon session especially for SPR but before I do I need to know who might be interested and gauge number so I can get a rough idea on cost.

Cost will be determined on how many people are interested and when we can secure the dome (though I am hoping for a Saturday afternoon but nothing is guarenteed).

You dont need a track bike as there are plenty we can hire.  All you need is your helmet, kit and pedals and your away 😉

Track riding can really enhance and compliment your road riding skills and ability – Its a lot of fun and I encourage you to try it….

If you are interested then please either leave a comment or drop me an email:
