Pickering Brook number two…

Racing at its best! Pickering Brook – in the hills of Perth

Midland Cycling Club have put the race on for many years and everyone raves about it. SPR riders are supported by your race committee, if you are racing wear your SPR jersey.

For those new to the Pickering Brook race here is an brief explanation. The race is in two parts, an (optional) individual time trial of one lap (7k) followed a little while later by a road race. It is graded so the distances for the road race will vary, check it out and register here:

Pickering Brook race one

A favourite race for many of us is the Midland Cycle Club Pickering Brook event. The race is held in the picturesque hills of Kalamunda. Consisting of a one lap individual time trial, followed later with a road race.

You place yourself in a grade that suites your ability. Distances vary for different grades, for more info about this aspect ask your friendly race committee: Jon Hanson, Steph Lim, Greg Murray, Paul George and Luke Dawson.

Many SPR riders have started their race careers in this event,  the course is a loop that has a combination of easy corners and long straights, with a small hill. Perfect for the all rounder.

Check out the event at wa.cycling.org.au https://eventdesq.imgstg.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=main&EventDesqID=19342&OrgID=8718

First race is May 22, registrations are open …

GOLDFIELDS CLASSIC

Its on again! The Goldfields Classic this year it is held on 4th and 5th June. Ride, race and hang with mates for two days…. how good is that!

SPR have been supporting riders to race the Goldfields for many years and again we want to send a contingency of enthusiastic riders to the event.  We will again organise the logistics of transport, accommodation and race transfers.

The race will suit those riders that like long flat roads, who want to take in the beautiful  scenery of the outback and breathe in the fresh country air.

The race committee is looking for you to join us. Right now we are looking for your interest in doing the event, email us at race@southperthrouleurs.com.au

Some more information from the website.

This year’s Minara Resources Goldfields Cyclassic will continue as a two-stage handicap race across the Goldfields from Kalgoorlie-Boulder to Menzies and on to Leonora. Riders will be racing across some of the richest and historic landscapes of the Western Australian Goldfields.

For the weekend enthusiasts who do not wish to race, but wish to be included in this exciting and iconic event, the Community Challenge is a great way to explore the riches of the Goldfields and enjoy the achievement of completing the course
